During my recent stay at Cwm Clyd - Carthouse, I was captivated by the stunning location and the peaceful atmosphere. The picturesque natural landscape surrounded by beautiful hills left me in awe. The opportunity to witness the dark skies, including the Milky Way and a meteor shower, was truly spectacular. The abundance of wildlife, especially the variety of birds and even spotting Polecats, added to the enchanting experience. Exploring the reservoirs and walking along the rivers and hills was a highlight of my trip. I also highly recommend visiting Pen Y Garreg dam for a unique and fascinating experience. The nearby town of Rhayader with its charming shops and local produce is worth a visit, and Gilfach Nature Reserve offers another great nature-filled experience. The Elan Valley visitor centre provided all the necessary information about the area's dams, reservoirs, and activities.
While my overall stay at Cwm Clyd - Carthouse was wonderful, I did encounter a few minor drawbacks. It would have been perfect to have a comfortable chair or sofa to relax in after a long day of exploring the beautiful hills.

The location of the accommodation is truly breathtaking, surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and offering stunning views. The restored stone buildings add to the charm and authenticity of the place. Guests can enjoy the calming atmosphere provided by the nearby stream. The barn, serving as a communal kitchen and dining area, is well-equipped and includes a cozy log burner, perfect for chilly evenings.
Limited parking availability for larger vehicles like vans or minibuses was an inconvenience, resulting in potential difficulties and the need for assistance for stranded guests.
